Interior colours for home staging should be selected from the colour palette that appeals to most buyers. What are neutral colours? A neutral colour is one that blends into the background. Neutral colours are relaxing, calming and often appear to have no colour – and that’s the thing – it is appearance only.

Neutral colours are versatile; they provide the perfect canvas for all other colours that you place against it.  Often artwork, soft furnishings and decor with provide the splash of colour, making them the ideal backdrop for displaying artwork.  We have entire shelving systems colour coded with soft furnishings.  What we choose to use will depend in the existing colour and tone of the property and who we are appealing to.

Townsville being based in the beautiful tropics may see us use tropical art work and sometimes having indoor/outdoor flow.  The challenge of staging is often creating zones and flow.

Also – know who you are appealing to.  For example, if we have a 2 bedroom home each with ensuite which is not a family home and will probably have two adults living in it,  we will do one to appear masculine through colour choices and the other feminine.

60% of a room in a dominant colour – Typically the wall colour

30% of a room in a secondary colour – Furniture, drapes, flooring

10% of a room in accent colour(s) – Achieve this this through accessories: pillows, art, blankets

Neutral colours have the widest appeal among home buyers, plus, a neutral colour palette will complement most people’s furniture.

Some people think a neutral colour palette will be boring. This colour combination can be very restful and sophisticated.  And the use of accent colours gives it personality and energy that is versatile in the appeal it creates.

Examples of interior colours for home staging that most people love are beige, taupe, ivory, coffee tones, honey, butter, golden, wheat, blue-green, mossy green, brown, blue-grey and grey.

Grey is a sophisticated colour and very trendy at this time.

Grey complements all other colours and serves as an excellent backdrop for bright colours, allowing them to stand out.
